The City of Wolverhampton Council is the democratically elected local authority serving Wolverhampton and its 270,000 residents. The council delivers a wide range of statutory and community services including adult and children's social care, public health, housing advice and homelessness prevention, adult education, benefits and welfare support, environmental services, planning, and parks and leisure. As a member of the West Midlands Combined Authority, it works with health, police, and community partners to tackle poverty, improve outcomes for vulnerable people, and drive economic growth in the city centre and beyond. The Civic Centre on St Peter's Square is open to residents requiring in-person advice Monday to Thursday 10am–3pm and Friday 10am–3pm.

Self-referralFree and subsidised adult education courses across a wide range of subjects including English, maths, IT, health and social care, and skills for employment. Open to all adults regardless of prior qualifications.
Benefits & Welfare Advice
Self-referralSupport with council tax reduction, housing benefit, and welfare rights for residents on low incomes. Staff can assist with online claim forms, appeals, and signposting to debt and money advice services.
Housing Advice & Homelessness Prevention
Self-referralFree advice for residents at risk of or experiencing homelessness, covering council housing applications, tenancy rights, private sector lettings, and emergency accommodation. The council has a legal duty to assist eligible homeless households.
